Kurdish Village Evacuates in Face of Iraqi Army Advance

Hashm Sitayi, a senior Peshmerga commander in battalion 8, told Rudaw, “At first, the Iraqi army came with the intention to attack the area. However, when they realized they would be confronted by the Peshmerga, they turned to a defensive position.”.......

....Travelling between Fishkhapur and Kairo, dozens of oil fields are visible alongside the weapons and artilleries. Some people from the villages believe Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki has sent troops to control the oil fields.

Others believe Maliki has sent troops to the border to prevent a Kurdish region from being established in Syria.
